For tenants

Message in your language. Any format.

HomeTenant is the maintenance line your landlord uses. Send a WhatsApp like you would to a friend, in whatever language you're comfortable in. Type it, send a photo of what's broken, record a voice note, or take a video. We'll understand it and get you help, usually within minutes.

  • Write in your own language, and you get answers back in it.
  • Photo, voice note or video all work. No perfect English needed.
  • No app to download. No password to forget.
  • Reply at 11pm and we'll triage overnight.
  • Urgent? Your landlord is pinged immediately.

Hey, the radiator in my room hasn't worked since yesterday and it's freezing 🥶

21:14

Sorry to hear that, Aisha. Is the boiler in the kitchen running ok? (Quick check before I bring in Mike, our heating engineer.)

21:14

Yeah the boiler is fine, the others have hot water

21:15

Got it, sounds like a stuck valve on your radiator, not the boiler. I've opened ticket #142 and messaged Mike. He's offering 9–11am tomorrow. Does that work?

21:15

Yes please, I'll be in

21:16

Booked. Mike will WhatsApp you 30 mins before he arrives. In the meantime, the spare electric heater is in the hallway cupboard if you need it tonight 👍

What to expect

Do I have to message in English?
No. Write in whatever language you speak. HomeTenant reads it and replies to you in the same language. You never have to translate anything or worry about getting the words exactly right.
Can I send a photo or voice note instead of typing?
Yes. A photo of the leak, a voice note describing the noise, a quick video of what's happening: all of it works. Sometimes a picture explains the problem far better than words, so send whatever's easiest.
What can I message about?
Anything that's broken, leaking, blocked, freezing, smelling, sparking or otherwise not right. Heating, plumbing, electrics, locks, appliances, pests: all of it. Even 'I'm not sure what this is' is fine.
What if it's an emergency?
If you smell gas or hear a CO alarm, leave the property, open windows, call 0800 111 999 (National Gas Emergency Service), then message us. We'll alert your landlord immediately. For all other emergencies (flood, sparks, lock-outs) just message and we'll route it straight to your landlord, with no AI middleman.
How fast will I hear back?
You get an acknowledgement straight away, 24/7. If we need to send an engineer, we'll confirm a time and coordinate it for you. You don't have to chase anyone, and your landlord's number stays private on both sides.
Would rather have an app?
You can have one. If you'd prefer an installable app with notifications instead of WhatsApp, your landlord can switch you over, but it's completely optional. WhatsApp works perfectly.

Tenant of a HomeTenant property?

Your landlord already gave you the number. Save it, message it in your language, get help. It really is that simple.
